David Wright takes some batting practice and fielding drills, feels good
For the first time in weeks, Mets third baseman David Wright practiced like a regular member of the club, rather than nursed his strained abdominal muscle.
In a significant step forward, Wright took batting practice during the morning. He completed throws across the diamond. The only aspect which separated him from his peers was he didn’t appear in today’s 8-2 victory over Houston.
“This is like the first day for me for spring training of going through everything,” Wright said. “From stretching to the conditioning. So I feel good. I’m headed in the right direction.”
After a few more similar days, manager Terry Collins said Wright could make his Grapefruit League debut early next week.
