Mets Work Out: Matt Harvey Pitches BP to Mets Regulars, Lucas Duda puts on a Home Run Display on Field 7 (Mini Citi Field)

According to Andy McCullough of NJ.com, The Mets spring training highlights of the day occurred on Field 7 (Mini-Citi-Field), where Matt Harvey threw another session of live batting practice.

He faced a group of regulars – David Wright, Jason Bay, Ike Davis, Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda – but all appeared to be just tracking the baseball. Harvey did plunk Duda in the right leg with an off-speed pitch, but Duda reported no ill will or injured limbs.

Lucas Duda proceeded to detonate baseballs during regular BP. Dozens of baseballs cleared the moved-in fences.

McCullough says that even though it is just batting practice, Duda has been the star of camp thus far. Team officials are almost giddy about his potential for this coming year, especially considering his .957 OPS in the second half of last season.

“Really fun to watch,” catcher Mike Nickeas said Duda finished up his session.

“Unless you’re the opposing pitcher,” Ike Davis cracked.
