Lenny Dykstra permitted to attend Gary Carter's Funeral

According to the NY Post, Former Mets star Lenny Dykstra will be permitted to attend the funeral of teammate Gary Carter.

Dykstra, who is under house arrest in Los Angeles on allegations of bankruptcy fraud and embezzlement, filed papers with a judge earlier this week in an attempt to attend Carter’s funeral Friday, according to TMZ.com.

The judge signed off on Dykstra’s request, allowing him to attend Carter’s funeral in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Dykstra and Carter were teammates on the Mets from 1985-89 and played pivotal roles on the 1986 World Series-winning team. Carter’s two-out single in the 10th inning of Game 6 in 1986 ignited a Mets rally that forced Game 7 against the Red Sox.

Carter died last week after a battle with brain cancer. He was 57.

In addition to Dykstra, Keith Hernandez, Rusty Staub, Wally Backman, Tim Teufel, Howard Johnson, Roger McDowell, Mookie Wilson, Sid Fernandez, Darryl Strawberry and Bob Ojeda are expected to pay their respects to Carter.
