Thomas Harding of MLB.com confirms that the Rockies are trying to sign free agent outfielder Carlos Beltran.
The Twins have emerged as the front-runner for Josh Willingham, which means the Rockies are in good position to land either Michael Cuddyer or Beltran.
There have been some concerns about Beltran's knees, so the Rockies may be able to get him on two-year deal for a higher annual salary.
The Cardinals and Red Sox have also expressed varying degrees of interest in the 34-year-old outfielder.
