Michael Morse and Jayson Werth each knocked in a run to back five scoreless innings by Brad Peacock as the Nationals took a 2-0 victory over the Mets in the third test of a four-game set.

Peacock (1-0) allowed two hits and three walks in his first career start. He pitched 1 1/3 innings out of the bullpen on September 6 for his only other major league appearance.

Chris Marrero went 2-for-4 and was the only player in the game to record multiple hits in Washington's fifth win in its last six games, including four straight.

Mike Pelfrey (7-12) allowed two unearned runs on six hits and two walks while fanning six through seven innings.

Justin Turner's pinch-hit double in the seventh inning was the Mets' only extra-base hit as they dropped their fifth straight game and the seventh in their last eight games.
