How bad do the Mets suck? The Numbers will tell you everything


The Mets have lost six straight games and lost eight of nine on their last homestand…The homestand started with a doubleheader sweep by the Braves on September 8 and concluded yesterday with the Nationals defeating the Mets, 10-1, to complete a four-game series sweep...The last time the Mets had a worse homestand by winning percentage (minimum six games) was August 23-September 2, 2004 when they went 1-10…They are 31-44 overall at Citi Field this season...The club lost a season-high seven straight games from April 10-16...The Mets are 11-10 in their last 21 games and 25-33 since the All-Star break


The Mets are 6-10 this month, including 4-2 on the road...New York is 2-5 in September in one-run decisions...Justin Turner is hitting .357 (15-42) in September, the ninth-highest mark among National League hitters while Jason Bay is batting .353 (18-51), the 10th-best mark in the NL this month.


New York has scored three or fewer runs in seven of its last 10 games...The Mets are 11-57 when they score three or fewer runs this year...New York has plated five runs in its last four contests...The Mets were outscored 48-26 during their nine-game homestand.


The Mets went 0-11 with runners in scoring position yesterday, and over the club’s last 10 games, they are hitting .189 (18-95) in such situations...Overall, the Mets are batting .262 with runners in scoring position, the 12th-best mark in the majors ...Justin Turner is hitting .365 (35-96) with runners in scoring
position, the third-best mark in the National League (0.62 plate appearances per team game).


The Mets left 10 runners on base yesterday for the third straight game...Over their last five games New York has stranded 50 runners...Overall, the Mets lead the majors with 1,168 runners left on base.
