Final Happy Recap: Game 162 - Reds at Mets - Batista shuts-out Reds, Jose Reyes bows out after one hit

Citi Field (Flushing, NY)

N.Y. Mets «00010200x360

W: M. Batista (5-2) L: E. Volquez (5-7)
HR: CIN - None   NYM - M. Baxter (1)

First off due to prior commitments (Real JOB), It did not post last night's recap, nor the preview/lineup and I apologize ...

On that note, here is the final recap -  Jose Reyes Lead off with a bunt Single, then he walked off  first base and called it a day. Justin Turner Pinch ran for him. Terry Collins and Jose Reyes had worked this decision before the game.. Of course it was all about the batting tittle..

Jose Reyes ended up with a .337 (181/ 537) batting average,  which is leading the NL.

Ryan Braun on the other hand is hitting .335 (187/559) and has to clearly go 3-3 to make it a .338 clip and 3-4 will also push him slightly over Reyes by percentage points. Pressure will build tonight in Milwaukee at 8:10PM to see if he can do it..

Miguel Batista tossed his first shutout since 2006, a two-hitter, and the New York Mets closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field.

The 40-year-old Batista (5-2) walked two and struck out five for the Mets, who snapped a three-game losing streak and finished 2011 with a 77-85 record.

Queens Native Mike Baxter hit a 2 run shot which extended the lead to 3-0....It was his first career shot..

Edinson Volquez (5-7) gave up three runs on six hits over seven innings for Cincinnati, which posted a 79-83 mark one year after capturing the NL Central title.
