Mets News and Notes: Reyes, Double Headers, Bullpen, Offense


The Mets have won two straight games following a five-game losing skid...New York is 4-11 in its last 15 games and 16-23 since the All-Star break.

The Mets are expected to activate Jose Reyes prior to game 2 of today’s doubleheader...Reyes went 2-5 with two singles and a run scored on Saturday for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League vs. Altoona...Reyes hit .333 (3-9) with three runs scored, one home run and one RBI in three major league rehabilitation games with the BMets...Reyes was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on August 8 with a strained left hamstring.

Today will be the Mets third doubleheader this season...New York was swept in a twinbill at home on April 14 vs. Colorado and the Mets lost both ends of a doubleheader on April 16 at Atlanta...The last time the Mets and Marlins squared off in a doubleheader was July 8, 2006 at Shea, when Florida won game one, 4-3, and the Mets won game two, 17-3, in Mike Pelfrey’s major league debut...The Mets and Marlins have never swept a double dip from each other.



The Mets bullpen has surrendered at least one run in 27 of its last 33 games, posting a 5.21 ERA (56 earned runs/96.2 innings) dating back to July 20...Overall, the pen ranks 29th in the majors with a 4.32 ERA.

New York offense ranks second in the NL and seventh in the majors with a .266 batting average...The Mets rank second in the NL and fourth in the majors with a .336 on-base percentage...The Mets are third in the National League and sixth in the majors with 251 doubles...New York ranks fourth in the majors with 459 walks...New York ranks eighth in the majors with a .266 with runners in scoring position and the Mets lead the majors with 1,010 runners left on base.
