Carrasco Called Up, Thayer sent down

The New York Mets recalled pitcher D.J. Carrasco from Triple-A Buffalo while optioning hurler Dale Thayer to the minors.

Carrasco had a 2-3 record with a 3.47 ERA in nine games with Buffalo. Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that Carrasco would serve primarily as the team's long reliever.

Carrasco, 34, is 0-1 with a 5.91 ERA in eight appearances with the Mets this season. He was demoted in late-April following a stretch of rough outings.

Thayer went 0-1 in four games with a 4.50 ERA.
