Santana Blasts Immigration Laws Before Braves Game

Musician Carlos Santana, was in Atlanta Georgia yesterday to receive a "Beacon of Change" award and took the opportunity to blast the states new anti-immigration laws. Before Sundays "Civil Rights Game," at Turner Field, Carlos Santana called the states new law "anti-American." The Georgia Immigration Law, HB 87, cracks down on illegal immigration by increasing enforcement powers and requiring many employers to check the immigration status of new hires. Santana sugguested the law is based on racism and economic anxiety. He went on to proclaim " I represent the human race, the people of Arizona, the people of Atlanta, Georgia you should be ashamed of yourselves." Santana referenced his 1960's rock-n-roll background and said he is an artist unafraid to speak out. "It’s an anti-American law. It’s a cruel law, actually," Santana said. "If you all remember what it was like here with Martin Luther King and the dogs and the hoses, it’s the same thing, only it’s high tech. So let’s change it.” The 2011 All-Star game is set to be held in Arizona, it will be interesting to see players response to the state's laws and their actions leading up to the game.
