Reyes should be back Thursday

The Mets expect shortstop Jose Reyes to return to the team when he is first eligible, in time for Thursday's series finale against the Pirates.

Reyes, who went on the bereavement list prior to Monday's game, is currently in the Dominican Republic mourning the death of his grandmother. He had been the team's hottest hitter prior to his departure, batting .364 in May and .519 over his past six games.

Players on the bereavement list must miss a minimum of three days and can stay inactive for as many as seven.
