R.A. Dickey, who partially tore the plantar fascia in his right heel at Wrigley Field last week, will make his start as scheduled Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Terry Collins had expressed concern about Dickey’s ability to cover first base and otherwise field his position with the injury lingering.
“There’s some pain, but it’s nothing that impedes my ability to pitch,” Dickey had said Sunday, after testing the heel injury. “… I want to be there. The Mets have made an investment in me … and I want to give them a return on that investment.”
