Angel Pagan on the comeback trail from DL

Angel Pagan is nearing a return from the disabled list, but Terry Collins said he's unsure whether the center fielder will be activated after two more games with Class A St. Lucie. The alternative appears to be having Pagan make an intermediate stop with Triple-A Buffalo to face higher-caliber pitching.

Since resuming a rehab assignment, Pagan has played two games with St. Lucie, going 1-for-8 with a homer and a walk. He played seven innings in center field Wednesday, then served as DH in a Thursday matinée.

"He's going to play a couple of more games and we're going to see how his progress is to decide whether or not he's ready to come here, or do we need to move him to Buffalo or someplace else," Collins said. "I always believe there's nothing wrong with seeing a little bit better caliber pitching before you come back here. So Sandy [Alderson] and I will talk about that."
