Final Score: Atlanta 4, New York 2

Alex Gonzalez hit two of Atlanta's four solo home runs to help the Braves take a 4-2 win over the New York Mets in the opener of a twin-bill from Turner Field.

The two clubs were to start the three-game series on Friday, but rain made this a twinbill.

Chipper Jones and Freddie Freeman each hit a solo home run for the Braves, who had dropped four of five coming into the game. Derek Lowe (2-2) went six innings and gave up two runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts to pick up the win.

Jose Reyes and Willie Harris each drove in a run for the Mets, who have lost their past six games. D.J. Carrasco (0-1) got the loss as he gave up three runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts in just 3 2/3 innings of work.
