Preview: 2011 Regular Season Game 21 - Diamondbacks at Mets
Probable Starting Pitchers: Arizona - Barry Enright (0-1, 6.23) New York - Dillon Gee (1-0, 1.59)
The New York Mets can win for a third straight time since a dreadful 1-9 skid today, when they face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the middle game of a three-game series at Citi Field.
The Mets started the season 4-4, then lost seven straight before splitting their last four contests, including a 4-1 win over Arizona in Friday's series opener. New York's Ike Davis hit a reviewed home run in the seventh inning.
Carlos Beltran added an RBI single for the Mets, while starter Mike Pelfrey (1-2) gave up one run on five hits over seven strong innings.
Joe Saunders limited the Mets to a run on two hits with three walks in six- plus innings for Arizona, which has lost five of eight.
Youngster Dillon Gee makes the second start of the year for the Mets -- five days before his 25th birthday.
The native Texan won, 3-2, at Atlanta in his 2011 debut after splitting four decisions and posting a 2.18 earned run average in 33 innings late last season.
He made the April 17 start in place of righty Chris Young, who is on the 15- day disabled list with right biceps tendinitis retroactive to April 11.
Young threw a simulated game April 21 and could be activated to start April 26.
Gee has never faced the Diamondbacks.
Arizona counters with righty Barry Enright, who faces the Mets for the third time in his 21st big-league outing.
The 25-year-old Californian allowed nine hits and three runs in 14 innings against the Mets as a rookie in 2010, posting a 1.93 ERA.
He's given up four runs in each of four starts this season, allowing 20 hits in 17 1/3 innings while picking up a loss and a pair of no-decisions.
The Diamondbacks have been outscored, 19-13, in his three outings.
Arizona has dominated its series with the Mets, winning five of seven meetings a year ago and 11 of the past 15.
