Ike Davis not phased by Feliciano Comments

NEW YORK - APRIL 13: Pitcher Pedro Feliciano ...Image by Getty Images via @daylife
After Feliciano said he didn’t have anything to prove to Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen despite Warthen's comments that the reason the Mets didn’t resign the lefty was because of the wear and tear on his arm the past few years, the pitcher, now on the disabled list with the Yankees because of a sore arm, said he would strike out Davis when the teams meet next month in the Subway Series.

Davis didn’t take the bait when the message was relayed to him Tuesday. The first baseman said he wasn’t insulted.

"His job is to come in and strike me out," Davis said before the Mets faced the Phillies. "But I'm going to make him not strike me out … Feliciano is a pretty funny guy, so what are you gonna do?"

He said Feliciano wouldn’t be the first to mow him down.

"I did strike out how many times last year?" said Davis of his 138 Ks a year ago. "It's not that tough of a feat."

Yankees GM Brian Cashman started the controversy by saying the Mets "abused" Feliciano by pitching him as much as they did.
