Recap: Spring Training Game 18 - Mets vs Braves
Backup catcher David Ross didn't have any problem with R.A. Dickey's knuckleball while helping the Braves claim a 12-0 win over the Mets at Champion Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ross' five-RBI performance gave an early lead to Tim Hudson, who scattered four hits over four scoreless innings. Willie Harris accounted for two of those hits with a first-inning double and a third-inning sharp single to right. Daniel Murphy also continues to make a statement with two hits in four AB's.
Dickey issued two of his three first-inning walks to load the bases for Ross, who delivered a two-run single up the middle to boost the .143 batting average he carried into the game. The veteran backstop added a two-run double in the second inning.
Chipper Jones' fourth-inning double accounted for the only hit Dickey surrendered after the second. The knuckleballer allowed five runs -- four earned -- six hits, four walks and three strikeouts in five innings.
Jones added a two-run double in the sixth. Ross capped a three-hit day with an RBI single later in the same inning.
