Mets closer K-Rod scratched today from action

Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez was scratched from a scheduled appearance against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday after a brief trip to New York.

Rodriguez was in New York to update the court on his anger management sessions after his guilty plea in December for assaulting the grandfather of his children at Citi Field in August.

He was not able to throw for two days while he was away so for precautionary reasons he was held out of Tuesday’s game.

“I haven’t played catch in the last two days,” Rodriguez said about not making the trip with the team. “I didn’t do anything, so I don’t want an accident. I don’t know how my arm would feel.”

Rodriguez, who will have to go to New York twice more during spring training, said he expected to make his spring debut Thursday.
