According to Fish Bytes,  The Marlins have spoken internally about reacquiring second baseman Luis Castillo, who was released on Friday by the New York Mets.

Castillo, who has one year remaining on his contract, is owed $6 million, which the Mets will absorb.

The 35-year-old second baseman played 10 seasons with the Marlins from 1996-2005 and won three Gold Gloves and two World Series rings with the team.

The Marlins have discussed Castillo as a low-cost option at second base if Matt Dominguez doesn't make the club and Omar Infante is moved to third.

Here are some of the comments on Fish Bytes:

I hope the Marlins sign him. He'd be a good reserve second baseman/pinch hitter and possibly a starter if he plays well. He's also a fan favorite.

GET IT DONE LARRY !

The Florida Heat must be getting to their brains....LOL
