The Mets 3B David Wright made it clear he is only concerned with what happens on the field in the upcoming season.
"Internally, the idea is that things haven't gone the way that we've expected them to go now that I've been here seven years," Wright told the New York Post. "It's to the point now where you've got to put up or shut up."
Wright admitted that the game is an escape from all of the off-field uncertainty by all the Madoff/Wilpon news. He is anxious to create some positive news.
"With what we've had the last couple of years, it hasn't worked, and I'm just as much at fault as anyone else," Wright told the New York Post. "It's time to get it turned around in the right direction. When it's all said and done, I want to win, and we haven't done that. I just know how special it was the season that we had in '06. It was so much fun. I haven't had that since, and I miss it."
