The Mets have a glaring hole to fill in the bullpen with Pedro Feliciano and Hisanori Takahashi departing to other teams. They could definitely use a lefty specialist.
The problem with the Mets right now is the financial flexibility they have to fill such roles. They only have 5 Million in wiggle room to find a reliever and a starter. The Mets will continuously monitor the market for the pitchers that are left on the board..
Left handed relievers that are left include - Joe Beimel, Brian Burres, Tim Byrdak, Bruce Chen, Randy Flores, Brian Fuentes, Mark Hendrickson, Ron Mahay, Will Ohman, Dennys Reyes, Scott Schoeneweis, Bobby Seay, Taylor Tankersley.
Out of that group there have been many reports that the Mets are targeting Joe Beimel, Ron Mahay, and Will Ohman. Adam Rubin of ESPN, has floated the names of Tom Byrdak and Randy Flores as possibilities for the Mets.
Brian Fuentes has been linked to the Mets, but seems to be trying to find a closing job or a multi-year deal. So like I posted, "forget it"..
