What's all the Brian Fuentes hype about??

Some Mets Fans want Brian Fuentes and yes, he is available. The Red Sox, Rays, Yankees and Twins are among the many teams interested in him, according to sources close to Ken Rosenthal. Even though the Mets was mentioned as one of the 11 teams interested in him originally. The Mets are not going to get him, so why is it even been mentioned.

The Mets are not getting into a bidding war with the powers of AL East and/or the Twins.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports:

Problem is he is too pricey.

Fuentes wants more than $5 million per season on a multi year deal, several execs say. Those terms are affordable for a closer, high for a setup man and exorbitant for a specialist.

Fuentes numbers against lefties/righties are not bad.

Here are his splits:

2010 Pitching Splits

Do the Mets need a lefty in the pen? Yes.... But think more like Joe Beimel.. The Mets are looking for the price to drop and only have about 5 Mil or so to play with. They probably would want to sign a starter along the way.. Can anybody say Chris Young.?
