News Source: Mets Rumored Blockbuster?

Here is a translation of a  Puerto Rican News Paper, El Nuevo Dia.

In this is a rumor that has Beltran, Reyes, Mejia for Justin Upton and Steven Drew..

For the moment it is a rumor, but to become a reality could become the megacambio of Major League this offseason, since lead mobilization Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes out of the New York Mets .

It was learned yesterday that the Mets, a team that recently named Terry Collins as their new manager, are considering various alternatives for changes to the two most valuable players on their roster Caribbean.

In one, center fielder and shortstop Reyes Beltran could be sent to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for outfielder Justin Upton and shortstop Stephen Drew. The Mets also sent as a supplement to change the pitcher Jenrry Mejía, considering the high pay that has the contract boricua.

Meanwhile, another scenario mentioned during the past weekend is the possibility that the Mets Beltran change to the Texas Rangers, although this option is not mentioned potential players to be exchanged.

What does seem clear is that the Mets appear to be willing to give up the intention to compete for success with the trio had formed with Beltran, Reyes and third baseman David Wright.

Affected by injury, Beltran and Reyes have lost considerable playing time in the past two seasons. And the Mets in two years has been fatal.

The 2011 season, incidentally, is the last of Beltran as its current contract. Meanwhile, Reyes is also emerging as a potential free agent face to 2012, given that just signed a year was agreed as an option for 2011.

Taking flight the exchange alternative to franchises of Arizona, which incidentally has offered the former Mets general manager, Omar Minaya, a position as assistant general manager Kevin Towers, the Mets would acquire two more players Reyes and Beltran economic.

Upton, who was the first pick in the 2005 Rookie Sweepstakes is signed at a good price for five seasons and only Drew is eligible for arbitration until 2013.

Reyes, meanwhile, will win in 2011 totaling $ 11 million and $ 18.5 million Beltrán.
Terrible deal for the Mets because they don't get pitcher in the deal... What do you think.. Make Comments

  1. I have to disagree. I think that would be an insane steal for the Mets. I just don't see why the heck Arizona would do it; they would be getting 2 players who have heavy salaries (particularly Beltran), some health issues, and are headed towards free agency. There is really no value in that unless Arizona was 'going for it all' in 2011, and even then it would still be a brutal trade for them. Drew is locked up for at least 1 more year than Reyes and is coming off of an excellent offensive season. Upton is a potential superstar locked up at a great price. The only "future player" the Diamondbacks would be getting back is Mejia, and that's just not nearly enough for players like Drew AND Upton.
